Employers Forum on Belief Publishes Guide to Death & Bereavement
7 December 2010
From time to time employers will need to respond to the death of an employee or a member of an employee's family. This is likely to be a stressful and often highly emotional time for those immediately concerned and an employer's actions in responding to the situation in a compassionate and professional manner can be of real assistance.
Our guide provides information on religious practices associated with death in the six main religions practiced in the UK (Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and Sikhism), including mourning periods for which employers may receive requests for compassionate leave.
EFB members can access the guide from our Publications page. We have also recently published a Guide to Christmas.
