Employers Forums on Age and Belief to relaunch as the Employers Network For Equality & Inclusion in October
5 August 2011
- First not-for-profit UK-wide organisation to cover all nine diversity and inclusion strands
- Two diversity and inclusion specialists recruited to drive forward the next phase of growth
The Employers Forums on Age and Belief (EFA and EFB) today announced that they are relaunching as the Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion (enei) in October 2011.
The new organisation will be the first of its kind in the UK. Created out of two existing and well-respected Forums, both of which have been pivotal in leading the workplace and inclusion agenda, the enei will run as a charity and cover all nine protected characteristics in The Equality Act 2010.
It will offer an integrated service model, one that both approaches equality and inclusion from multiple perspectives, and focuses on cross-cutting themes, specifically in the area of unconscious bias and how it influences behaviour through the employee lifecycle. enei will also enable small organisations and those without equality and inclusion expertise to deal with any issues.
To drive forward the new offering, two diversity and inclusion heavyweights have joined the team. Dan Robertson, who has 12 years’ experience of project managing diversity and culture change programmes and most recently worked as a client consultant at Equality Works Ltd, has been recruited as Diversity and Inclusion Director. Amir Kabel recently joined as Head of Business Development. Most recently he worked as a Diversity Manager for the National Health Service (NHS). Both new hires will report into CEO, Denise Keating.
Denise Keating, CEO, Employers Forum on Age (and soon to be ENEI), commented: “This is an incredibly exciting time for us. In consultation with existing EFA and EFB members, we identified a need for a more integrated and proactive approach to equality and inclusion across the employee lifecycle. This provides an amazing opportunity to engage further with employers on the whole spectrum of workplace inclusion issues. Dan and Amir have been recruited to lead this charge and I am delighted that they’ve joined us at such a crucial time.
“Post launch, enei will be the only not for profit UK wide entity, supporting businesses on all issues related to equality and inclusion best practice. As a cutting edge charitable organisation, we will also provide our members with access to our research and campaigning arm, which has proved to be extremely successful in the current model.”
The enei launch drinks event will take place at 6pm on 18 October at the Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, 21 New Globe Walk, Bankside, London, SE1 9DT. BT, Core Assets Group and The Law Society are sponsoring the event.
